Luke Mejares, DJ Marc Naval to grace PSL Grand Prix opening

True to its name, the 2014 Philippine SuperLiga Grand Prix presented by ASICS will have a grand opening as crooner Luke Mejares and club DJ Marc Naval will perform during the ceremonies at 1pm on October 18 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

The two musical acts will add zest to the one-hour program lined up before the hostilities between the RC Cola-Air Force Raiders and Cignal HD Spikers which starts at 2PM. They will then be followed by the tussle between Petron Blaze Spikers and Generika LIfe Savers at 4pm.

The 2014 PSL All Filipino Conference runners up are bannered by international players Emily Brown and Bonita Wise along with veterans Wendy Semana, Judy Caballejo, Joy Cases, Rhea Dimaculangan, and Maika Ortiz. The Raiders are also backstopped by Jocemer Tapic, Angel Mae Antipuesto, and first round draft pick Iari Yongco.

The HD Spikers will miss captain Michelle Datuin, who transferred to new team Mane and Tail , but last conference’s core of setter Arriane Argarin, liberos Jheck Dionela and Norie Jane Diaz, as well as middle hitters Honey Royse Tubino and Abigail Praca are still intact.

Last year’s PSL Grand Prix second place club is supplanted by foreign guest volleybelles Sarah Ammerman and Lindsay Stalzer.

Making a comeback to the hardcourt is Cherry Vivas.

Petron, meanwhile, parades the return of Fille Saint Cainglet-Cayetano as she joins Dindin Santiago, Mary Grace Masangkay, Gretchen Ho, Carmina Aganon, Mayette Zapanta, Jennylyn Reyes, Maica Morada, and Aia del Mundo.

Also suiting up for the Blaze Spikers are reinforcements Alaina Bergsma and Erica Adachi.

Orange is the new green as Generika Life Savers fields a DLSU Lady Archers-laden lineup that includes Aby Marano, Stephanie Mercado, Melissa Gohing, Michelle Gumabao, Wensh Tiu, Cha Cruz, and Rochelle Sison. Divine Eguia. May Macatuno, Arianna Angustia, and Mic-mic Laborte are the other spikers in the team.

Natalia Korobkova (RUS) and Miyuu Shinohara (JPN) are the new faces coming in for Coach Ramil De Jesus.
