STO. DOMINGO, Ilocos Sur – Philippine Superliga (PSL) stars return to this bustling town to see action in an exhibition match on Saturday October 6 at the Sto. Domingo People’s Coliseum.
National team captain Aby Maraño of F2 Logistics banners the country’s best volleyball players, who will display their talents with the big guns of the province in a featured battle dubbed as the Gov. Ryan Singson Volleyball Cup 2018.
Maraño, who led the national squad to an impressive performance in the 18th Asian Games and the AVC Asian Women’s Volleyball Cup will be back in action together with Grethcel Soltones of Smart and Bang Pineda of Generika-Ayala.
Also seeing action in this exhibition match that was organized by Singson and Provincial Sports Chief Marius Cabudol together with the Provincial Administrator’s Office are Aerieal Patnongon, Alex Tan, Gyra Barroga and Marge Tejada of Cocolife; Acy Masangkay and Cindy Amutan of Cignal; and Jamie Lavitoria of Generika-Ayala.
Singson said they are deeply honored to roll out the red carpet for these PSL players since they want to create awareness about the importance of sports, healthy living and camaraderie to their constituents.
“Through our relentless sports programs, we support every Ilocosurian athlete every step of the way for them to achieve their full potential,” said Singson, also the president of League of Provinces of the Philippines.
“We want them to become great achievers and to bring home honors to the province and to our country as well.”
This is not the first time for the PSL to hold an event in this northern province. The last time they played here was in 2014 when Petron collided with Mane ‘N Tail followed by the encounter between Generika and RC Cola-Air Force.
“Aside from reaching out to the fans, we’re doing this to raise awareness about the beauty of sports, particularly volleyball,” said Maraño, who will also spearhead a meet-and-greet session.
“We’re looking forward to a fun-filled game. We hope everybody will have fun.”
